Sorry for the winded rant, but I figured I'd try to steer away anyone who might be considering this card. I don't even know if I'll get to use my 39,000+ reward points I had sitting in the account. And apparently being a good and long-standing customer means absolutely nothing. The APR and fees are absolutely outrageous, and the rewards are pretty meh. You have to set aside a large chunk of time dealing with them, as you're required to go through multiple automated chains (where you have to speak or type your information before you can talk to a person), no one knows anything so you are transferred repeatedly and have to give the same information OVER and OVER. ![]() The few times I've had to call I've had the worst customer service I've gotten with almost any company. If you are considering applying for their credit card- don't. Being my longest running account, this closure really gave my score a hit. I called customer service and they refused to tell me why, or reinstate the account. Since then Paypal has been steadily lowering my credit limit, from $9000 to $5500, and upon checking my credit score today and finding it under 700, I see that they closed my account (I had a zero balance). Years ago I made a poor choice and co-signed a loan for a deadbeat who stopped making payments, which unfortunately damaged my credit score severely (from 800+ to barely 700). I have always been very responsible with my bills and credit cards, never get in over my head, pay early, etc. I have had the account for nine years, and in that time made ONE late payment (I was one day late, got my days mixed up). Over mabye two years that was increased to $9,000. I wanted to start building credit as soon as I turned 18, and applied for Paypal's credit card. I just wanted to get a bit off my chest here and warn anyone considering applying for the Paypal Extras Mastercard.
